Foundation Programme Doctors with problems

The Thames Foundation Schools have produced “Supporting Professional Performance” a document to guide you through the management of a Foundation Doctor who is experiencing problems. This document can be found on the London Deanery site.
You may also wish to review the GMC guidance on your "Good Medical Practice"  which provides guidance in what to do if you witness practice that you feel falls below the expectations of a doctor.

Ill health of Foundation Doctors

All Foundation Doctors are encouraged to have an accessible GP. We understand that some doctors like to have a GP that is not in the immediate vicinity of the hospital or practice they are working. This said please advise against them having a GP 200 miles away.
Stress, and other health matters can in some cases have a negative impact on Foundation Doctors especially during big life events such as starting new jobs or obtaining positions of responsibility. We have a large number useful links Please refer to the useful links page where there is a whole section on our useful links about independent organizations that can support Foundation Doctors.
